16/5/2008Jogging for health

A NEW men's jogging group has been set up in the city.
The group, which will meet each week at The Annexe in Stewartville Street, will be part of the jogging network of Men's Health Forum Scotland and jogscotland (no caps).
Group leader Steven Kendrick said: "The new jogging group will be a great way for guys to get active this summer, whilst socialising with like-minded folk.
"Unlike many running clubs it is aimed at complete beginners, will be suitable for men of all ages and is completely free to join.
"The focus will be on having fun and slowly building up fitness levels.
"The sessions will start gently but members will be surprised at how quickly they feel the benefits of regular exercise.”
The first meeting for the new Partick-based group will be at The Annexe on Tuesday 20th May.

Partick Annexe would be far better using "Culture And Sport" and integrating their Jogging networks already up and running to include the Annexe as a meeting point, base or place for the Jogging network to start from. . . As it is at present people cannot change into their tracksuit etc. Due to the absense of facilities to change, and the booking of the hall for currently womens belly dancing. As much as this guy wants to get the service up and running, from what I have heard there are currently only 3 or 4 people jogging at this group from the Annexe Healthy Living Centre. So clearly people would far rather link up with Sports - Leisure centres which have better facilities, i.e. showers. So, as much as The Annexe is a good place for some courses held within it, it is not exactly the best place in some ways for this course to be run from.
